The British government decided to build the Gateway of India and the architect George Wittet was ordered to build the Gateway of India, but King George V and his wife Queen Mary could only see the model of the Gateway of India's structure as it was built until 1915. was not commissioned and its structure was laid on 31 March 1911 by Sir George Sydenham Clarke, Governor of Bombay, while its final design was approved by George Wittet on 31 March 1914.
