Aarti Saha, the first Indian woman to cross the English Channel, was an Indian swimmer. Swati's main sport was swimming. Sachin Nag recognized his talent and started to work it out. In 1949 Aarti won state level swimming competitions including All India Record. He also participated in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics.

Aarti Saha was born on 24 September 1940 in Kolkata city of West Bengal. He was born into a middle-class family. His father's name was Panchugopal Saha. He used to work as an employee in the armed forces. His mother died when he was only two and a half years old. She was the eldest of her parents' two daughters. He had a younger sister and a younger brother, his sister's name was Bharti.
Aarti Saha died on 23 August 1994 (age 53) due to jaundice in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
Inspired by Indian swimmer Mihir Sen, he dared to cross the English Channel. He had won 22 state-level competitions between 1945 and 1951 in West Bengal. Her main events were the 100-meter freestyle, 100-meter breaststroke, and 200-meter breaststroke. At the 1951 West Bengal state meet, she took 1 minute 37.6 seconds in the 100-meter breaststroke and broke Dolly Nazir's all-India record. In 1948, he participated in the National Championship held in Mumbai. She won silver in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter breaststroke and bronze in the 200-meter freestyle. He represented India along with compatriot Dolly Nazir at the 1952 Summer Olympics. She was one of the four female contestants and the youngest member of the Indian contingent.
He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1960. She was the first Indian woman player to receive this award. In 1999, the Department of Posts celebrated his victory by bringing a stamp of den 3 denomination. In 1996, a colony of Aarti Saha was erected near his residence. The 100-meter-long lane in front of the bust was renamed after him. He was featured as a Google Doodle on the day 2020 would be his 80th birthday.
