Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the 5th President of India (Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed as the fifth President by name and the sixth President by term). Fakhruddin Ali held the post as President from 1974 to 1977. He was elected the 5th President of the country on 29 August 1974 with the support of the then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. He was the second Muslim person to become President after Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Dr. Zakir Hussain.

Gopal Krishna Gokhale was born on 9 May 1866 in a Chitpavan Brahmin family in Kotluk village Maharashtra of Guhagar taluk in Ratnagiri district. Their family was relatively poor. His father's name was Krishna Rao Gokhale and mother's name was Valubai Gokhale.
