Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed was the 5th President of India (Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed as the fifth President by name and the sixth President by term). Fakhruddin Ali held the post as President from 1974 to 1977. He was elected the 5th President of the country on 29 August 1974 with the support of the then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. He was the second Muslim person to become President after Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Dr. Zakir Hussain.
In the year 1886, he joined the Deccan Education Society as a professor of English at Ferguson College. Gokhale Ji married twice. Gokhale's first entry into politics was in 1888 AD at the Congress session held in Allahabad. In the year 1889, Gokhale became a member of the Indian National Congress as a disciple of the famous social reformer Mahadev Govind Ranade. He also went to England in 1896 to testify before the Welby Commission. Gopal Krishna Gokhale was one of the guides of the Indian National Movement.
