Human habitation has been here since 2000 years before Christ. It is believed that today's Uzbeks displaced the Aryans already settled there. In 327 BC, when Alexander went on to conquer the world, he faced a lot of resistance here. Later, the Arabs captured Khorasan and Islam was propagated in the area. At the end of the fourteenth century it became an important region when the Timur Lung emerged here. Timur found amazing success in Central and Western Asia. Timur also defeated the Usman (Ottoman) emperor. In the nineteenth century it became a part of the growing Russian Empire and a member of the Soviet Union in 1924. In 1991, it gained independence from the Soviet Union.

There is a country located in the central part of Asia which is surrounded by land from all sides. Not only this, the country of its land has no access to the sea itself. It is located on the north by Kazakhstan, on the east by Tajikistan in the south, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan. It was a constituent of the Soviet Union until 1991. Among the major cities of Uzbekistan, the capital Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara can be named prominently. The natives here are mainly of Uzbek race, who use the Uzbek language colloquially.

Uzbekistan places 80 tonnes of gold annually, seventh in the world. Uzbekistan's copper deposits rank tenth in the world and its uranium is twelfth. The country's uranium production ranks seventh globally. Uzbektegaz, the Uzbek national gas company, is ranked 11th in the world in natural gas production with an annual output of 60 to 70 billion cubic meters (2.1–2.5 trillion cubic feet). Uzbekistan saw a slight improvement in the 2020 Ease of Doing Business ranking by the World Bank. The largest corporations involved in Uzbekistan's energy sector are China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Petronas, Korea National Oil Corporation, Gazprom, Lukoil and Uzbekentas.

The Uzbek language is one of the Ottoman languages closest to the Uyghur language and both belong to the Karluk branch of the Ottoman language family. It is the only official national language and has been written officially in the Latin alphabet since 1992. Karakalpak, a Turkic language close to Kazakh and spoken by half a million people, is mainly spoken in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and has an official position on the region.
