Ashoka Chakra (Medal):

The Ashoka Chakra (Medal) is India's highest peacetime gallantry award. This honor is given to soldiers and civilians for exceptional valor, bravery or sacrifice. It can also be given posthumously. The Ashok Chakra is for all, soldiers and civilians, for gallantry in a non-war context. The award is given at three levels of excellence. From the year 1960, the order of awarding Sena Medal was started. It was ensured to give this medal separately for the Army, Air Force and Navy.

Ashok Chakra (Medal) 2022:

The President of India posthumously awarded the Ashok Chakra to ASI Babu Ram of the Jammu and Kashmir Police for his excellence, bravery, devotion to duty and dedication. ASI Baburam's wife Reena Rani and son Manik were presented with the award by the President of India on Republic Day 2022.

History of Ashoka Chakra (Medal):

The Ashoka Chakra (Medal) is awarded to an army soldier, a civilian, living or posthumously. Since independence, 67 people have been awarded the Ashoka Chakra. This honor was established on 04 January 1952. Then its name was 'Ashoka Chakra, Varga-1'. In 1967, the condition of class was removed from this honor and three of its honors were declared. They were named 'Ashoka Chakra', 'Kirti Chakra' and 'Shaurya Chakra'. From 01 February 1999, the Central Government fixed a monthly allowance of Rs 1400 for the Ashok Chakra.
