The Grammy Awards were started in the year 1959. And in the same year, the first Grammy Awards ceremony was held on May 4, 1959. The awards were held to honor musical achievements by artists for the year 1958. The Grammy Awards are given for outstanding achievements in different genres of music.
It is given annually by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences of the United States. This award is given in total 108 categories. The winner is presented with a trophy consisting of a gilded vintage gramophone. The trophy is manufactured by Billing Art Works in Ridgeway, Colorado.

Grammy Awards 2019
The 61st Annual Grammy Awards ceremony was held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 10, 2019. Ringer-songwriter Alicia Keys hosted. During his opening monologue, Lady Gaga, Jada Pinkett Smith, Jennifer Lopez, and former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama were brought out, each of whom talked about the impact music had had on their lives. Dolly Parton was honored as Mushy's Person of the Year on 8 February 2019, two days before the Grammy Awards.
Kendrick Lamar received the most nominations with eight, while Childish Gambino and Kacey Musgraves had the most wins of the night with four each. Childish Gambino did not attend the Grammys, becoming the first major award winner to be absent from the ceremony since Amy Winehouse in 2008. "This Is America" producer Ludwig Göransson and recording engineer Riley Mackin accepted the Record of the Year Grammy on behalf of Childish.
