In the year 2001, on the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, keeping in mind his work, National Farmers Day was announced on 23 December. Since then every year 23 December is celebrated as Farmer's Day.

- There is a holiday in Uttar Pradesh on the day of Farmer's Day, most of the farmers of the country are from North India. Chaudhary Charan Singh also belonged to him, so this day is celebrated with great pomp there.

- Chaudhary Charan Singh was born on 23 December 1902 in an ordinary Jat family in Nurpur in Meerut district, Uttar Pradesh.
- His father's name was Chaudhary Mir Singh, he was a poor farmer.
- Charan Singh ji had his early education in Nurpur.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh received law education from Agra University.
- After this, Charan Singh ji came to Ghaziabad and took charge of the lawyer.
- He was married to Gayatri Devi in the year 1929.
- After this, in the Lahore session of Chaudhary Charan Singh Congress in 1929, influenced by Purna Swaraj, formed the Congress Committee in Ghaziabad.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh ji had supported Mahatma Gandhi in the 'Salt Law' in the "Civil Disobedience Movement".
- During this time, Chaudhary Charan Singh ji had to go to jail for 6 months.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh ji made salt on the Hindon river flowing on the border of Ghaziabad.
- Charan Singh ji was first elected to the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in the year 1937 from Chhaprauli.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh ji introduced the Agricultural Produce Market Bill in the year 1938, which was first adopted by Punjab.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh became the Revenue Minister of Uttar Pradesh in the year 1952 after independence.
- In the year 1967, Charan Singh left the Congress party and founded a new political party 'Bharatiya Kranti Dal'.
- Chaudhary Charan Singh became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh on 03 April 1967.
- And on 17 February 1970, Charan Singh became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second time.
- Charan Singh ji established the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development in 1979 while being the Finance Minister and Deputy Prime Minister.
- During the Emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi, Charan Singh ji had to go to jail.
- Charan Singh ji became the Prime Minister of India on 28 July 1979.
- Charan Singh ji died on 29 May 1987.
