World Hepatitis Day was started in the year 2010. For your information, let us tell you that in May 2010, during the 63rd World Health Conference, the discoverer of hepatitis-B virus and Nobel laureate Prof. A resolution was passed to celebrate the birthday of Baruch Samuel Blumberg as 'World Hepatitis Day'.
Professor Baruch Blumberg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in the year 1976. Since then every year 28 July is celebrated as World Hepatitis Day all over the world. It is one of 8 global public health campaigns marked by the World Health Organization (WHO). According to the World Health Organization (W.H.O.), about 400 million people worldwide are infected with Hepatitis B and C and about 1.4 million people die every year from this disease.

What is Hepatitis?
Hepatitis is a life-threatening and dangerous disease that affects the liver. This disease is caused due to viral infection. The liver usually swells due to this disease.
Symptoms of hepatitis: Common symptoms of hepatitis disease are as follows:-

Types of Hepatitis: Hepatitis is mainly divided into the following 5 types:-
- Hepatitis A: According to the WA, 1.4 million people become victims of hepatitis A every year. It is usually spread by eating contaminated food.
- Hepatitis B: It is transmitted through transfusion of infected blood and exposure to semen and other fluids.
- Hepatitis C: This is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is caused by the use of blood (blood) and infected injections.
- Hepatitis D: This is caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV). Only people who are already infected with the HBV virus are infected with this virus. Having both HDV and HBV together makes the situation worse.
- Hepatitis E: It is caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV). This is the cause of hepatitis infection in most countries of the world. It spreads more due to contaminated water and food.
