The main function of the National Independence Day celebrations will be held on February 4 at Galle Face Green under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardene. As part of its 75th National Independence Day celebrations, Sri Lanka has decided to issue a commemorative postage stamp which includes the portrait of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
The government has decided to proudly celebrate the 75th National Independence Day with a new reformist program for the next 25 years. Organized under the theme 'Namo Namo Math - A Step Towards a Century', the government will announce its new reformist policy for the coming 25 years, according to a release from the President's Media Division. That is, the Sri Lankan government will announce a stable government policy until 2048 when the country celebrates its 100th Independence Day.
