Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The Prime Minister also visited the Global AI Expo. GPAI is a multi-stakeholder initiative with 29 member countries that aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice on AI by supporting cutting-edge research and practical activities on AI-related priorities. India is the key chairperson of GPAI in 2024.
Development of GPAI in the progress of AI
The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) is an international and multi-stakeholder initiative to guide the responsible development and use of AI based on human rights, inclusion, diversity, innovation and economic growth. Launched in June 2020, GPAI comprises 29 member states and the European Union, with India serving as a founding member.
As Council Chair of GPAI, India will host the annual GPAI Summit in India on 12-14 December 2023. The summit will see the participation of AI experts from over 27 GPAI member countries and the EU, multilateral organizations and other relevant stakeholders.

The Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) Summit 2023 has emerged as an important platform to foster global AI collaboration, innovation and address challenges. With diverse sessions covering responsible AI, data governance, future of work, and innovation and commercialization, the summit promises to shape the future of AI with inclusivity and responsible practices. Join the conversation in person or virtually as the world comes together to define the trajectory of AI development.
During the summit, a number of sessions will be organized on diverse topics such as AI and Global Health, Education and Skills, AI and Data Governance and ML Workshop. Other highlights of the summit include Research Symposium, AI Gamechangers Award and India AI Expo.
More than 50 GPAI experts and 150 speakers from across the country will participate in the summit. Additionally, top AI gamechangers from around the world will participate in various events including Intel, Reliance Jio, Google, Meta, AWS, Yota, NetWeb, Paytm, Microsoft, MasterCard, NIC, STPI, Immerse, Jio Haptic, Bhashini, etc. The winning students under the Youth AI Initiative and Start-ups will also showcase their AI models and solutions.
