Theme of the Semicon India 2023 Conference
The theme of the conference is 'Catalyzing India's Semiconductor Ecosystem'. It aims to bring together world class leaders from industry, academia and research institutions. It reflects India's semiconductor strategy and policies, which envisage making India a global hub for semiconductor design, manufacturing and technology development.
During the three-day conference that ends on July 30, experts from different parts of the world specializing in semiconductor chip, display fab, chip design and assembly will converge to share their insights on emerging opportunities in India.
Major companies such as Foxconn, Micron, AMD, IBM, Marvell, Vedanta, LAM Research, NXP Semiconductor, ST Microelectronics, Grantwood Technologies, Infineon Technologies and Applied Materials will actively participate in the event. With its emphasis on innovation, partnership and growth, this conference is of utmost importance in shaping the future of the semiconductor industry in both India and Gujarat.
Gujarat government signed an agreement of Rs 22,500 crore
The Gujarat government also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with semiconductor chip giant Micron Technology worth Rs 22,500 crore. The objective of the MoU is to set up an advanced Assembly, Testing, Marking and Packaging (ATMP) facility in the state. Under this MoU, the US-based firm will receive 50 per cent financial assistance from the central government towards the entire project cost, with the state government offering an additional incentive of 20 per cent of the total expenditure.
