In a landmark development towards strengthening India's tertiary health care infrastructure and services, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has launched three health centers in Rajkot (Gujarat), Bathinda (Punjab), Rae Bareli (Uttar Pradesh), Kalyani (West Bengal) and Mangalagiri ( Five All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Andhra Pradesh were dedicated to the nation. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel were present on the occasion of the inauguration.
Inauguration and highlights of AIIMS
Each of the five inaugurated AIIMS holds strategic importance in expanding health care access in different regions of India. These institutions, along with 202 health care infrastructure projects, represent a comprehensive effort to enhance medical services and facilities across the country.
- Mangalagiri: A 960-bed hospital complex, costing Rs. 1618.23 crores, a medical college with a huge campus spread over 183.11 acres and offering 125 seats.
- Rae Bareli: A 610-bed hospital complex with emergency and trauma and specialty facilities including ICU and super specialty beds. It has a medical college with 100 seats and 12 operation theatres, with a project cost of Rs. 823 crores.
- Rajkot: Built at a cost of Rs. Built at a cost of Rs 1195 crore, this 750-bed hospital complex includes a 50-seat medical college and covers an area of 201 acres.
- Bathinda: A 750-bedded medical institution spread over 177 acres, equipped with 10 specialty departments, 11 super-speciality departments and 6 operation theatres. It hosts a medical college with 100 seats and a nursing college with 60 seats, with a total project cost of Rs. 925 crores.
- Kalyani: A 960-bed hospital with a medical college with 125 seats, a nursing college with 60 seats and an AYUSH block with 30 beds. The project, cost Rs. It is built on 179.82 acres of land at a cost of Rs 1754 crore.
