Sankalp Week 2023
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'Sankalp Week' program at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi on 30 September 2023. It is a week long program for the ambitious blocks of the country. 'Sankalp Saptah' is associated with the effective implementation of the Aspirational Block Program (ABP). The overarching goal of this initiative is to enhance governance at the block level, which will ultimately improve the quality of life of citizens.
What is Aspirational Blocks Program (ABP)?
Aspirational Blocks Program (ABP) was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 7 January 2023. It represents a holistic approach to drive positive change and development at the grassroots level. ABP focuses on 500 aspirational blocks spread across 329 districts of India. Its primary objective is to raise the standard of living of citizens by enhancing governance and delivery of public services in these areas.
The inaugural program was attended by around 3,000 panchayat and block level public representatives and officials from across the country at the Bharat Mandapam. Apart from this, about two lakh people including block and panchayat level officials, farmers and people from other areas joined the program virtually.
Every day will have a different theme
Each day of the 'Sankalp Saptah', celebrated from October 3 to October 9, 2023, is dedicated to a specific development theme on which all the aspirational blocks will work.
The topics for the first six days are as follows:
- Holistic Health: A day dedicated to improving health services and promoting holistic well-being in these blocks.
- Well-nourished families: Focusing on ensuring that families have access to nutritious food, thereby enhancing the overall health of the community.
- Sanitation: A concerted effort to promote cleanliness and hygiene practices in these blocks, creating a healthy environment.
- Agriculture: Emphasis on agricultural development to boost the livelihood of rural communities.
- Education: To work towards improving educational opportunities and access to quality school education.
- Samridhi Diwas: A day dedicated to economic growth and prosperity in the aspirational blocks.
On the last day of the week, 9th October, the entire week's work will be celebrated as Sankalp Week Inclusion Ceremony.
The celebration will recognize and honor the hard work, dedication and progress achieved throughout the week. It will serve as a platform to showcase the positive impact of the Aspirational Block Program and 'Sankalp Week' on the lives of citizens.
