Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023
On the occasion of International Women's Day, Ministry of Jal Shakti celebrated women leadership by felicitating women who have made exceptional contribution under various flagship programs of the Ministry through Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023. The Swachh Sujal Shakti Samman 2023 aims to bring forward women achievers from the grassroots level and connect them with the national leadership, who can share their journey and thereby inspire others.
President Draupadi Murmu presented a total of 18 awards in various categories under the Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and National Water Mission (NWM). Apart from presenting the award, the President also launched the Jal Shakti Abhiyan - Catch the Rain 2023 campaign, a video on 'Jal Shakti se Nari Shakti' and released a commemorative postage stamp. The President released the 'Manifesto of Swachh Sujal Shakti', which is a compendium of case studies on SBM(G), JJM and NWM, and standard operating procedures on source sustainability and greywater management.
- The categories under SBM-G are making the village an ODF plus model; compostable/biodegradable waste and/or plastic waste management; and greywater management and/or faecal sludge management.
- Under JJM, awards have been given to women change makers in the category of O&M of piped water supply.
- Jal Shakti Abhiyaan under NWM- Catch the rain and award given to water warriors.
- The awards were given to women representatives of Village/Gram Panchayat/Block/District/State/Union Territory, Sarpanches, Swachhagrahis, Jal Vahini, Jal Yoddha etc. for their exemplary contribution.
Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain" - 2023
The President authorized the launch of an important campaign "Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain"-2023 with the theme "Sustainability of Drinking Water Sources", the fourth in the series of Jal Shakti Abhiyan. Prioritizing the sustainability of the primary source is one of the identified needs. During Jal Shakti Abhiyaan: Catch the Rain-2023, the important role of water in the empowerment of women is being acknowledged with the theme “Jal Shakti se Nari Shakti”.
