Women's World Championship 2023
Boxing Federation of India (BFI) unveiled the upcoming IBA Women's World Championship 2023. The tournament will be held from March 15 to March 26 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi. Mahindra was named the title sponsor of the event by the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) and MC Mary Kom and Bollywood actor Farhan Akhtar as brand ambassadors.
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) is hosting the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships for the third time in Delhi this year. Since its inception in 2001, the prestigious global championship has been held in India twice, in 2006 and 2018. Earlier also it was organized in New Delhi only. Apart from this, India hosted the Women's Youth World Championships in Guwahati in the year 2017.
So far 350+ boxers from 74 countries have registered for this tournament, which includes 12 Indians. The world championship will be held in 12 weight categories 48kg, 50kg, 52kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 66kg, 70kg, 75kg, 81kg and plus 81kg.
The mascot was unveiled in the presence of Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur and BFI President Ajay Singh, besides Indian athletes participating in the prestigious event.
