Yoga Mahotsav 2023
Ministry of AYUSH in association with Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) on March 13-14 at Talkatora Stadium, Delhi and Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY) on March 15. Yoga Mahotsav 2023 was inaugurated in the presence of Union Minister for AYUSH and Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Tourism Minister G Kishan Brand and others.
Yoga Mahotsav 2023 is an event to celebrate the 100 days countdown to the 9th edition of International Yoga Day 2023. The festival was organized to promote various dimensions of Yoga and its wide spread, utility and prevalence. To celebrate the countdown, there will be mass yoga demonstrations and sessions at 100 locations in the National Capital Territory of Delhi and this marks the beginning of 100 days, 100 cities and 100 organizations activities across the country.
Yoga related activities
- The three-day Yoga Mahotsav 2023 will also feature a host of activities including Yoga Gurus' Talks, Vice Chancellor's Summit - where heads of premier institutions will share their experiences, AYUSH Summit of States and Union Territories, Yoga Fusion - Demonstrations, Yoga Rhythmic Performance Competitions .
- The Yoga Mahotsav will see active participation of Anganwadi workers, ASHA workers, Self Help Groups, AYUSH Health and Wellness Centres, Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), Women Welfare Organisations, Universities, Yoga Universities.
History of International Yoga Festival
The first International Yoga Festival was celebrated in 1999 at Parmarth Niketan Ashram. Initially, the classes were conducted under the guidance of Pujya Shree Swami Ved Bharat Ji. And the yoga asanas were taught by Yogacharya Shri Bharat Bhushan Ji.
Major Attractions of International Yoga Festival
- The event starts at 4 am with Kundalini Sadhana and continues till late evening. The entire process includes traditional cultural songs, kirtans and dance performances.
- The main motive behind celebrating this festival-cum-event is to unite yogis of every sect and culture, color and creed and aim for a better world.
