Government of Goa has launched its flagship scheme “Grameen Mitra” to provide doorstep delivery of government services across the state and promote digital empowerment in rural areas. The scheme will bridge the digital divide and promote digital empowerment in rural parts of the state. Minister of State for Information Technology, Electronics and Communications Rohan Khaunte, Union Minister Shripad Naik, Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Shet Tanavade were present on the occasion.

Objective of Grameen Mitra Yojana

The objective of the program is to empower rural communities with access to information and opportunities that can transform their lives and promote socio-economic development.

Benefits and Features of Gramin Mitra Yojana

1. Digital Empowerment:- Digital connectivity will be enhanced in rural areas in Goa through this Grameen Mitra initiative.
2. Government Services at Doorstep:- Through this scheme now every eligible rural citizen is able to get government services at their doorstep.
3. Call Center Service:- Those who are interested to avail the benefits they have to contact on the call center number from 8 AM to 8 PM.
4. 24*7 Services:- Under the Grameen Mitra Yojana the Government of Goa provides service to the beneficiaries seven days a week.
5. Promote e-governance:- This Grameen Mitra Yojana promotes e-governance in the rural area of the state.
6. Digital first state:- A minister of the Goa state government said that the Grameen Mitra Yojana will help in making the state the first in the digital service sector.
7. Bridging the digital divide:- The scheme has features that will bridge the digital divide between rural and urban areas in terms of technology and innovation.
8. Resource Saving:- The scheme will facilitate door step delivery, so this initiative helps to save time as well as money of the rural citizens.
