Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah launched the "Griha Jyoti" scheme, which aims to provide affordable housing to the poor and middle class families of the state. The scheme is a part of the state's ambitious "Housing for All" scheme and aims to provide housing to around 4.5 lakh families in the next five years. Under the Griha Jyoti Yojana, the Government of Karnataka will provide financial assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh to the eligible beneficiaries for the construction of their houses. The government will also provide subsidy on the interest rate for the loan taken for the construction of the house.
About Griha Jyoti Yojana
The scheme is open to all residents of Karnataka who do not have a house in their own name or in the name of any member of their family. Financial assistance will be available to both individual households and groups of households interested in building a house in the same locality.
Griha Jyoti Yojana has been launched to improve the living conditions of the people in Karnataka. Under this scheme, if a person uses up to 200 units of electricity, then he will not have to pay the electricity bill. This means the family can save around Rs.1000 per month. The objective of this program is to address the economic challenges faced by the residents with respect to electricity expenditure.
