The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has partnered with Israel to set up the India-Israel Center for Technology (COWT). The key objectives of the center will be to ensure the implementation of Israel's best technologies in line with Indian requirements and work on sustainable management solutions for the Indian water sector.
Human Capacity Building for Water Management
The India-Israel Water Technology Center will focus on building human capacity to apply Israel's advanced water technologies in the Indian context. This upcoming center will help the 'Amrit' mission of MoHUA to achieve its overall goals. In addition, it will pursue joint activities to implement technical solutions through separate agreements.
Mutual Knowledge Sharing
The CoWT will serve as a platform for mutual knowledge sharing between India and Israel. It will facilitate exchange of technology, scientific information and literature related to water management. The center will bring together experts from both the countries to engage in discussion and consultations on various water related issues including drinking water, sewerage management and exploration of new areas of intervention.
Demonstration of Water Management Practices
Apart from promoting sustainable water management practices, the India-Israel Water Technology Center will showcase cutting-edge technologies and projects. It will provide Indian water professionals with extensive exposure to the latest advances in the sector by organizing demonstrations and exhibitions from Israeli water companies. This initiative will contribute to the adoption of state-of-the-art solutions in India's water sector.
Focus Areas and Technical Solutions
The center will initially focus on specific projects related to integrated water resources management, urban water supply, non-revenue water and sewage recycling. The integration of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) will be a key element in developing innovative solutions for water harvesting and smart data management. Through the use of advanced technologies, the center aims to demonstrate effective and sustainable approaches to water management.
