Inauguration of Indian Military Heritage Festival
Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first edition of the Indian Military Heritage Festival in New Delhi on October 21, 2023. The two-day festival to be held on October 21-22, 2023, aims to celebrate India's rich military culture and heritage developed over centuries through talks, art, dance, drama, ballads and exhibitions. It will bring forward various adapted positions and viewpoints primarily through panel discussions by eminent scholars, practitioners, serving and retired officials.
During the event, the Defense Minister also launched 'Project Udbhav', a joint collaboration of the Indian Army and United Service Institution of India, to promote indigenous dialogue through exploration of the country's ancient strategic skills and integration into the contemporary military arena.
Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Army Chief General Manoj Pandey, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhary, Chief of Staff Committee Lieutenant General J.P. were present at the inauguration ceremony. Mathew, Vice Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Sanjay Jasjit Singh, Director General General B.K. Sharma was present.

The festival seeks to set a benchmark in the field of public engagement with military history and heritage while simultaneously achieving the goals of development of the armed forces in the 21st century. The objective of the Mahotsav is to give new impetus to the study of Indian military culture, traditions and history and add concrete value to the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' and 'Make in India' initiatives. It also provides a forum for discussion on various contemporary issues related to security, strategy and international relations relevant to India and the world.
