Space start-up Skyroot Aerospace unveiled its indigenously built Vikram-1 rocket on 24 October 2023. This rocket will be capable of carrying 300 kg payload into low earth orbit. Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh also inaugurated the start-up's new headquarters 'The Max-Q Campus' at the GMR Aerospace and Industrial Park in Mamidipalli, south Hyderabad.
Singh visited the Skyroot headquarters spread over 60,000 square feet and described it as the country's largest private rocket development facility under a single roof.

Vikram-1 is a multi-stage launch vehicle, capable of delivering approximately 300 kg of payload into low Earth orbit. It is an entirely carbon-fibre-framed rocket, which can launch multiple satellites into orbit and has 3D-printed liquid engines. This rocket represents Skyroot's second successful project after the victorious launch of the Vikram-S rocket on November 18, 2022. Vikram-1 can be considered an improved version of its predecessor.

Skyroot Aerospace Private Limited is an Indian private aerospace manufacturer and commercial launch services provider headquartered in Hyderabad, Telangana. The company was founded by former ISRO engineers and scientists. It aims to develop and launch its own series of extendable small-lift launch vehicles designed specifically for the small satellite market.

Dr. Singh also inaugurated the new global headquarters of Skyroot Aerospace, named MAX-Q, in Hyderabad. The facility has been described as "the country's largest private rocket development facility under a single roof". MAX-Q is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, including integrated design, manufacturing and test facilities for space launch vehicles.
Every rocket has to pass through 'Max-Q', a point of maximum stress during its journey to space. The facility can accommodate Skyroot's 300-member strong workforce and is spread over a substantial built-up area of 60,000 sq. ft. with future expansion plans in the pipeline. The headquarters boasts a futuristic space theme, symbolizing Skyroot's commitment to pushing the boundaries of space technology.
