The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved Metro connectivity to Dwarka Expressway, Gurugram with a spur line (branch line) from HUDA City Center to Cyber City. The new line will cover a distance of 28.50 kilometers and will have 27 stations along the route. The metro trains on the line will have a design speed of 80 kmph and an average speed of 34 kmph. The entire project will be elevated and will be completed in four years. The total cost of this project will be Rs 5,452 crore.
What will be the total cost of the project
Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Limited will implement this project. The Central and Haryana governments will bear 50-50 percent of the cost of the project. The Government of India's share will be Rs 896.19 and the Haryana government will contribute Rs 1,432.46. Local bodies will contribute Rs 300 crore. Apart from this, funds will be sponsored separately for the accelerator and lift under PPP model.

Metro connectivity will start from the existing HUDA City Center on Delhi Metro's Yellow Line and the new stations will include Sector 45, Cyber Park, Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 72A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6,
Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai Gaon, Sector 9, Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and Cyber City.
Benefits of metro connectivity
This new metro line will connect New Gurugram to the old parts of the city and also provide overall economic development in the area, in the next phase it will provide connectivity to IGI Airport. The metro connectivity will have a standard gauge line of 1,435 mm (5 ft and 8.5 in). It will have a spur line from Basai village to connect with the depot.
This line will act as a lifeline for the people of Gurugram. This will make the movement of Delhi easy. Apart from this, Gurugram is currently developing as a hub of information and technology. In such a situation, with the construction of this line, new employment opportunities will also be created. The decision of the cabinet will help in revolutionizing the transportation in Gurugram. It will also improve connectivity with Delhi airport.
