Shastra Ramanujan Award 2023
Mathematician Ruixiang Zhang, assistant professor at the University of California, Berkeley, United States, has been selected as the recipient of the prestigious 2023 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize. This award recognizes his significant contributions to the field of mathematics. He will be awarded a cash prize of US$10,000 at the International Number Theory Conference to be held from December 20 to 22. The conference will be held at SASTRA University in Kumbakonam, the hometown of renowned mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
What is Sastra Ramanujan Award
SASTRA Ramanujan Prize is awarded by the Shanmugh Academy of Arts, Science, Technology and Research (SASTRA), Kumbakonam since 2005. It is awarded annually to a young mathematician who is considered to have conducted outstanding research in areas of interest to Ramanujan. The age limit for the award is set at 32 years (the age at which Ramanujan died), and the current award is $10,000.
The selection committee for the 2023 SASTRA Ramanujan Award includes esteemed mathematicians:
- Krishnaswamy Alladi (University of Florida) – President
- Don Blasius (University of California, Los Angeles)
- Sergey Konyagin (Lomonosov Moscow State University)
- Jonathan Pila (University of Oxford)
- Björn Poonen (MIT)
- Ze'ev Rudnik (Tel Aviv University)
- Vadim Zudilin (Radboud University, Netherlands)
