91 New FM Transmitter
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated 91 FM transmitters to make radio announcement in India through video conferencing. This will benefit 84 people from 18 states and two union territories. This will give a boost to FM radio connectivity in border areas and aspirationally. The states and union territories covered include Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Ladakh.
During this, PM Modi said that today this expansion of FM service of All India Radio is an important step towards becoming All India FM.
Digital India has also given new listeners to radio, and has also given new thinking. The Tech Revolution in the country has given a new avatar to Radio and FM. Radio is not backward due to internet but has come forward in innovative ways through online FM and podcasts.
Advantages of Transmitters
- This beginning of 91 FM transmission of All India Radio is like a gift for 2 crore people of 85 districts of the country.
- With this expansion of All India Radio's FM service, news will reach an additional 20 million people through this medium. This will result in expansion of coverage over an area of about 35,000 sq km.

Shri Modi launched the program Mann Ki Baat, which is now nearing its historic 100th episode, to harness the unique strengths of the medium to reach out to the widest possible audience.
