The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched India's first semi-high-speed regional rail services named 'RAPIDX'. These trains will run on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors that are being constructed to connect important urban nodes in the National Capital Region (NCR). The brand name 'RAPIDX' has been chosen because it is easy to read and pronounce in different languages.
'X' represents next generation technology and new age mobility solutions, signifying speed, progress, youth, optimism and energy.
Purpose of RAPIDEX
The brand aims to contribute to decarbonisation by reducing the NCR, reducing the number of vehicles on the road and using green energy. The logo of the brand consists of a green leaf symbol which signifies the brand's commitment towards decarbonisation.
Features of RAPIDEX
- RapidX services will connect people living in their hometowns in NCR to the national capital through modern, sustainable, convenient, fast, safe and comfortable modes of travel.
- RapidX services on the first Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor will significantly reduce the travel time between Delhi and Meerut.
NCRTC plans to open the entire Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor to the public by 2025. Before that, it will commission the 17 km long priority section between Sahibabad and Duhai in 2023, ahead of its scheduled time. RapidX services are expected to provide easy and fast access to a world of opportunities for the youth in NCR, leading them towards their aspirations.
