The Union Home Ministry has given its consent to change the names of two places in the state following the recommendations of the Uttar Pradesh government. The Ministry has issued No Objection Certificates (NOC) for renaming Nagar Palika Parishad Mundera Bazar in Gorakhpur district to Chauri-Chaura and Telia Afghan village to Telia Shukla in Deoria district.
- Along with falsifying many wrong facts in the history of completion of hundred years of Chauri Chaura incident on February 4, 1922 in Gorakhpur district, many changes are also being made. In this episode, preparations were being made to classify the name of Chaurichaura's main market and Nagar Panchayat Mundera Bazar as Chaurichaura Nagar.
- At the same time, the identity of a village in Deoria district is being changed. There is a village Telia in Barhaj tehsil. Now he is being oiled. In the revenue records its name is Telia Afghan but people also know it by the name Telia Shukla. Where Telia Afghan is written on the government project, at the local level people write it as Telia Shukla. The exercise to change its name was going on for the last two years.
Between 2012 and 2022, the names of 11 districts were changed, out of which 9 names were changed by Akhilesh Yadav, the remaining two names were changed by Yogi Adityanath in his first term.
